Sound Design

Beyond scoring, Eva Mattioli offers professional sound editing and post-production services, utilizing Pro Tools Studio from her experience working freelance on smaller projects. Below, you will find two reels/examples of design, one featuring a scene with no dialogue and just added SFX and background ambience (sound), and the other featuring a scene with dialogue, SFX, and background ambience.

One Minute Film Festival Film: Quick and Dirty (2026)

For Quick and Dirty, I handled the full post-production audio pipeline—from raw production sound through final master—building on the same comprehensive workflow I brought to Toss Up, while also composing the original score.

I performed detailed dialogue restoration and mixing, surgically removing environmental noise and technical interference to ensure every line was clean, intelligible, and emotionally grounded. Dialogue was carefully leveled and EQ’d to sit naturally within the mix while maintaining clarity across playback systems.

To enhance physical realism, I recorded and mixed custom Foley, including clothing movement and prop interactions, adding weight and texture to on-screen performances. I also constructed a cohesive atmospheric soundscape, replacing unwanted location noise with curated ambiences that reinforce the film’s setting without drawing attention to themselves.

In addition, I composed and integrated the original music score, shaping the emotional arc of the film and supporting its pacing within the one-minute format. The project concluded with a final master that balanced dialogue, Foley, atmospheres, and score to meet industry loudness standards while preserving dynamic range and impact.

Toss Up (2026)

On Toss Up, I provided a comprehensive post-production audio suite, taking raw production tracks and transforming them into a polished, cinematic soundscape. My work on this project focused on the balance between technical surgicality and creative world-building.

  • Dialogue Restoration & Mixing: I performed extensive "surgical" audio cleaning, removing intrusive environmental noise and equipment interference from the original location recordings. By leveling and EQ-ing the dialogue, I ensured every line was crisp, intelligible, and emotionally resonant.

  • Foley Provision & Mixing: To add physical weight to the performances, I recorded and mixed custom Foley. From the subtle rustle of clothing to the specific "clink" of on-screen props, these organic layers were meticulously placed to ground the characters in their physical reality.

  • Atmospheric Construction: I replaced unwanted "outside" sounds with a curated bed of ambient noise tailored to the film's setting. By layering specific environmental textures, I created a consistent and immersive atmosphere that supports the narrative without distracting the viewer.

  • Final Mastering: The process culminated in a final master, where I balanced the dialogue, foley, and score. This ensured the audio met industry loudness standards while maintaining a wide dynamic range, providing a professional listening experience across all playback systems.
